New Visibility Standards
Starting mid-December, public messages within Discord’s "Discoverable Servers"—communities with at least 1,000 members—may appear in web search results. Discord is introducing Server Web Pages that index channel discussions, similar to how public forums like Reddit are currently indexed. Notably, individual usernames and avatars will remain hidden.
Privacy and User Control
While the change aims to improve information discoverability, privacy remains a concern. Server administrators can currently opt-out specific channels. Individual users may also adjust their preferences via the "Data and Privacy" settings. Users in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea are opted-out by default due to local regulations, and teen users are excluded from this feature entirely. Private servers and direct messages remain unaffected.
